Mountain View County and its partner urban municipalities are home to a thriving arts and culture community. Everything from music, stage, dance, fine arts and more can be found in our communities. Mountain View County is home to several high quality museums and archives, featuring a number of dedicated volunteers and staff ensuring the story of local history and heritage is preserved.

Each of the museums and historical societies is provided with an annual $6,000 contribution by Mountain View County. This alotment is reviewed annually by Council and staff to ensure it is meeting the needs of the local museums.

Mountain View Museum- Olds

Celebrating the pioneer heritage of Olds and surrounding area. Displays include the general store, school house, western corner and homestead kitchen. Located at 5038 - 50 Street in Olds. Open year round.

Didsbury Museum

Includes an old physician's office, an early railway, and a school classroom showing articles from the early 1900s to the 1980s. Designated a Provincial Historic site in the summer of 1997. Located at 2120 21 Ave in Didsbury. Open year round.

Sundre Pioneer Village & Museum

Features a Norwegian log cabin from 1913; the area's oldest schoolhouse; a blacksmith's house and barn; and the Chester Mjolsness World of Wildlife Museum. Located at 211 - 1st. Ave. SW, Sundre. Open from the May long weekend to Labour Day in September.

Carstairs Heritage Centre

The museum features the McCaig House from 1901 which is a restored, furnished homestead house, and the "Olde Tyme Sweete Shoppe". Located at 1138 Nanton Street in Carstairs. Open year round.

Libraries are an important part of the community fabric of Mountain View County and is partner urban municipalities. The County provides funding for local libraries through a per capita requisition with Parkland Regional Library system, which oversees the local libraries.

The County also provides direct funding to the libraries through inter-municipal partnerships with urban neighbours. Mountain View County residents are all welcome to visit and take out memberships at their local library. Book borrowing and other resources are available at all the area locations.

Bergen Rocks


Bergen International Sculpture Park is an installation of monumental stone sculptures located on a beautiful 3-acre property in the foothills of west-central Alberta. The sculptures were created by artists from around the world during sculpture symposia organized, hosted, and funded by owner and sculptor, Morton Burke, on his acreage in Bergen Alberta.

An annual series of concerts and events sponsored by the Olds Kiwanis Club.

Olds CLC Fine Arts and Multi Media Centre

A flexible venue, the Fine Arts and Multi Media Centre offers a 350+ seat theatre, instructional, presentation and conference space, and multipurpose areas for performing and visual arts in Olds and area. This space and its offerings respond to the fine arts and programming needs of Olds High School, Olds College and the surrounding community.

Sundre Arts Center

Located in Sundre, AB, the Sundre Arts Centre is home to The Sundre Music Series, Peak Theatre Players dramatic society, and Studio K Dance Gallery.

Carstairs Artisan Market

Carstairs Artisan Market features quality handmade goods from local artisans. We are excited to showcase so many wonderfully talented people from in and around Carstairs.

Mountain View Arts Society

The Mountain View Arts Society promotes and encourages a variety of artistic opportunities and events for the enrichment and enjoyment of the general public. The Society's signature event is the Arts Festival in September of every year.

Mountain View Film Group

The Mountain View Film Group is a non-profit organization and a member of the Toronto Film Group. They screen independent and Canadian films once a month at the Mayfair Cinema in Uptowne Olds. Proceeds from showings are used to support local initiatives such as student scholarships and museum activities.
