The long-awaited construction of a new permanent bridge on Range Road 52 north of Water Valley will commence this week.
The resulting construction means the road will be fully closed to both north and south bound traffic. In addition to the road closure, the Mountain View County owned Water Valley Campground will close on Monday, June 25th.
Both the road and campground will remain closed until construction of the bridge span is complete. The projected completion date is expected to be mid-October, barring poor weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
East of Water Valley, detour routes to access the northern portion of RR 52 are suggested as north bound along RR 45, RR 44 and Highway 22, to Township Road 301A which turns into Township Road 302 (Big Prairie Road) and provides access to the northern portion of RR 52 by heading west bound.
From west of Water Valley, the best access to Twp Rd 302 is via north bound RR 54 which intersects with Twp Rd 302, providing access by heading east bound.
Local traffic for both portions of RR 52 will continue to have access along each portion of the roadway, but there is no access across the bridge construction zone for any traffic.
The bridge is being constructed across the new breakout stream for the Little Red Deer River which changed course in recent years, bisecting the Water Valley Campground. For years, a temporary bridge has serviced the crossing.
For more information on the project, please contact Operational Services at 403-335-3311 or the numbers posted at the construction site.
The County appreciates the disruption construction like this causes and thanks residents and other motorists for their patience during this phase of construction.
