Select highlights from the Mountain View County Regular Council meeting, held August 14, 2019.
- Mountain View County Council approved payment to a maximum of $500,000 towards the Cremona Ag Society Arena Renovations. The funding will be broken down into two payments; one for $434,364 immediately, with the remainder to be paid in 2020 if final costs dictate. The amount was accounted for in the 2019 Budget, approved in April and will be funded from the Agricultural Society Arena Reserve - Cremona.
- Council approved the County Dog Control Bylaw (Bylaw No. 15/19) which includes clarification of the terminology for vicious dogs and dangerous dogs, and updated fine schedule. Residents who wish to view the changes can see them online at https://www.mountainviewcounty.com/council-boards-services/bylaws once the bylaw is signed. Community input on this bylaw was received as part of a public engagement campaign undertaken in combination with changes to the Land Use Bylaw and returned to Council for information in June.
- First reading was given to the Cremona Intermunicipal Development Plan, and a joint public hearing was set for October 8, 2019 to be hosted by the Village of Cremona. Watch for more details on this important public hearing in future editions of this County pullout, on the County website, and over County social media channels.
- Approval was given by Council to fund the Village of Cremona’s portion of the AFRRCS Radio Transition of $12,765 from the Intermunicipal Collaboration – Cremona Reserve. The reserve was established to help fund capital purchases that were mutually beneficial to both municipalities.
The next regular Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28th, in the County Council Chambers. All Council meetings are open to the public. See our website for agendas the Monday before the regular meeting.
