Division Five

Bearberry, James River, McDougal Flats; Parts of Bergen and Eagle Hill/ Westward Ho

Gerald Ingeveld

I attended school in Sundre, and met my wife Shelley while we both attended Olds College. We now operate the Double N Ranch on the south bank of the Red Deer River, in the Bergen area. Currently we have a son in college, and a daughter in university.

This is my second term as councilor for Division 5, having initially served from 1998 to 2001. I believe that a modern municipality needs to have a solid set of policies which will allow staff to accomplish their tasks efficiently. If policies are weak, then work stalls as staff must constantly wait for confirmation from above. Today's municipal activities are too many, and too complex to micro-manage. A Councilor's role is to give direction to help create the policies that will enable staff to accomplish their tasks in a timely manner.
