Division Four

Elkton/ Rugby, Westcott; Parts of Fallentimber, Bergen, Harmattan, Westerdale and Westcott

Kathy Blain

I was born in Saskatchewan, and moved to a farm in the Sundre area in 1947, with my parents Alvin and Doreen Johnston. My father served with the RCAF, and my mother came to Canada as a war bride. I am married to Ron Blain, and we have a blended family of seven children and 15 great grand children. We live in the Elkton area, where we farmed prior to purchasing the Elkton Valley Campground in 1999.

This is my second term on Council, having been first elected in 2004. In that time I have sat on the Agricultural Service Board, Didsbury Fire Authority, MVRES Board and Sundre Library Board. I have also been an active member of Search and Rescue, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Order of the Royal Purple, Hospital Auxiliary, 4-H and Brownie leader.

I believe Council's priorities over the next term should be: repairing and maintaining County roads; enhancing the Agricultural Services department; improving communication with County residents; economic development and tax stability; and protecting our water and the environment.
