Welcome to Mountain View County

Come and discover one of Alberta's most exciting rural communities nestled between the stunning foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and the rolling prairies spreading beyond Alberta's Queen Elizabeth II highway(QEII)- the main north-south transportation artery running through the province. Situated in the heart of the Calgary-Edmonton corridor- dubbed Canada's economic "Western Tiger"- some 20,000 vehicles cross our roads each day bringing commerce, visitors and new opportunities.

Our current population is 12,570 rural residents, with another 18,000 residing in our urban centres which include Olds, Sundre, Didsbury, and Carstairs and the Village of Cremona.

We farm here, as we always have. Homesteaders wisely chose Mountain View for its ample rainfall and fertile soils. More than a century later, Agriculture is still a vital economic engine of Mountain View County with 34 per cent of our labour force working in a sector that has now diversified into value added crops and livestock being marketed globally.

Mountain View is also blessed with exceptional natural resources which support thriving oil and gas, mining, forestry and manufacturing sectors. Our solid economic base fuels superb municipal and school facilities state of the art recreational programs and services and modern housing developments – all of which make Mountain View an ideal location to earn a living, raise a family and retire affordably.
