Mountain View Countys Assessment Department assesses properties each year to determine taxation for the following year. Today, new technology makes it possible for the County to assess properties using standardized provincial criteria efficiently and cost effectively.
Like other rural municipalities in Alberta, Mountain View County uses the ASSET program (Assessment Shared Services Environment) as mandated by Alberta Municipal Affairs. For information on the program and guidelines to property assessments in rural Alberta, please see: www.municipalaffairs.gov.ab.ca
The ASSET program offers a comprehensive set of tools for assessment purposes, and it connects Mountain View to a province wide assessment database. This data provides a timely and accurate basis of comparison of equalized assessments in Mountain View relative to other Alberta counties and regions and ensures that Mountain View ratepayers are being evaluated fairly.
The County also uses CAMAlot Windows based software that provides accuracy and speed in the calculation of data generated from field data.
