Red Deer River Watershed Alliance

Mountain View County is currently an active member of the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance. In 2009 the State of the Watershed Report was completed and now members are working on the Integrated Watershed Management Plan. The State of the Watershed Report can be found online on the RDRWA website. If you are interested in becoming a member of the RDRWA membership forms can be found at their website.

Parkland Airshed Management Zone

PAMZ was established in 1997 and the County has been an active member since 2000. Mountain View County is located in the south east corner of the PAMZ boundaries. Recently PAMZ developed an Ozone Management Plan for the PAMZ area. Information on the Ozone Management plan can be found on their website.

Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development

Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development provides funding for Agricultural Service Boards to enforce the following acts: Agricultural Pests Act, Weed Control Act, Agricultural Service Board Act & the Soil Conservation Act. The County also completes various pest control surveys and a monthly crop survey for Alberta Agriculture and Rural Develpment.

For the past five years MVC has received funds from ACA's Grant Eligible Conservation Fund. These funds were allocated to landowners who have completed riparian fencing projects throughout the County. MVC has also worked on several bioengineering projects on the Bearberry Creek and the Little Red Deer River with ACA.

Cows and Fish

Cows and Fish is a non profit organization who provides technical assistance to County's or landowners on riparian health and management strategies. They have provided presentations at some of the workshops the County has facilitated. They have also assisted the County complete riparian health assessments on some of the creeks and rivers.

Foothills Forage & Grazing Association

MVC is a current member of Foothills Forage and Grazing Association. FFGA is a non-profit organization and apart of the Agricultural Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA). The County works with Foothills Forage and Grazing Association on facilitating forage and livestock related workshops throughout the year. Municipalities located within the FFGA boundaries are: Mountain View County, M.D. of Bighorn, M.D. of Rocky View, Wheatland County, M.D. of Foothills, M.D. of Pincher Creek, M.D. of Ranchland, M.D. of Pincher Creek, Waterton National Park and Kananaskis.

Grey Wooded Forage Association

MVC is a current member with the Grey Wooded Forage Association. The GWFA is a non-profit organization and a member of the Alberta Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA). The County works with GWFA on facilitating forage and livestock related workshops throughout the year. Municipalities that are found within GWFA boundaries are Mountain View County, Clearwater County, Red Deer County, Lacombe County and the County of Ponoka.

Sundre Petroleum Operators Group

The Sundre Petroleum Operators Group covers an area that starts at Eagle Hill in the east and to Bearberry in the west, and from Elkton in the south to Caroline in the North. SPOG is an organization that deals with environmental issues, community affairs and emergency response issues dealing with the oil and gas industry. The SPOG organization is made up of EUB representatives, thirty oil and gas companies and fifteen community groups. MVC is a member of the Neighbors Day Group and the SPOG Environmental Committee.
