February 12, 2010A cougar was confirmed to have killed a dog in the Bergen/Eagle hill area on Feb 12 2010 (SRD)
October 3, 2009Grizzly bear observed this am 2m north and 2 west of Sundre (SRD)

If you witness bear activity, please call the Alberta Sustainable Resource Development fieldoffice near you. In Sundre, the number is 1-403-638-3805. For a list of SRD field offices, click here.

Then let us know. Send an email to MVBearSmart@gmail.com with the subject line "Bear Sighting", including the following information:

  • The observation date, place and time of the sighting.
  • Your name and contact information (all personal information will remain confidential)

And if possible, information on:

  • The species (Grizzly, Black Bear, etc.)
  • Number of animals; Whether male or female / with or without cubs
  • Detailed information about the area: Whether facility, residential, rural, acreage or urban.(GPS coordinates if possible)
  • Animal acitivity at the time (eating, etc.)
